Comment from one of our patrons:
I want to thank you for a great production  Buggy Malone.  My family and I were at the Nippersink Library in Richmond and were lucky enough to see a poster on display for the final performance.  We went right over to Memorial Hall to see the play.  What a great time for all of us - my husband, my granddaughter, and myself.  I have always loved the Memorial Building, remembering when I took my children to the library there (and the village hall along with the police dept was in the basement).  I am so pleased that this historic building where people known enjoyment for years and years still gives the people of this area pleasure.  The children in the play were very professional - their voices clear , their lines delivered with confidence and obviously practiced over and over.  We were all pleasantly impressed with the talent of the children in our area and of the production crews, directors and all staff that must have worked very hard.  I felt a love a passion for what was happening on stage and in the building.  When a  performer and staff enjoys their work the audience feels the intensity; you don't just view or hear the play, you feel the play. Thank you.  We look forward to future plays. I am interested in learning about the Riverview Theater and my granddaughter is interested in becoming a member of the children's group.  Can you tell me the path we may start to get my granddaughter involved?
Thank you for a wonderful weekend! - Patty Swedersk

Patty,
It was our pleasure. I'm a big supporter of the benefits theatre has for the community - the interaction between an actor and the audience is special, and there aren't that many ways to bring together communities anymore as intimately as the theatre. In the Bugsy cast, we had children from Lake Geneva, Twin Lakes, Richmond, Spring Grove, McHenry, and even as far away as Des Plaines who believed in what we're doing, and their efforts and passion created a magical couple of hours for all of us who got to experience the joy they brought to each and every performance.
Thank you very much for coming out on the spur of the moment to support local theatre. This was the first production of Riverkids, our children's theatre division and you can rest assured that future productions will be better and better (and, fortunately, less expensive for the audience!) As a non-profit organization that is supported by the community and local businesses (through donations as well as attendance), we hope to give back equal value in the efforts of our actors, directors, stagehands and musicians.
You've taken a great first step toward getting your granddaughter involved by signing up for Riverview's email list. You will receive updates and alerts as soon as we know what next year's children's show will be, and then be alerted weeks before auditions so that you can prepare. There are other opportunities as well.
In fact, though it hasn't been announced yet, I will tell you that we're putting together a theatre camp for children to run in the summer, so that they can learn about the craft of acting, how a show gets put together, and prepare for auditions for the next Riverkids production.
The best is yet to come!
Best regards,
Jeff Cook

New theater launches with holiday classic.

Angie Kells admits she is not afraid to take risks. She loves telling a good story, and she hopes to make a difference in her community.

All of those aspirations inspired the McHenry resident to launch the Riverview Theatre Company, McHenry's first independent theater company. After years of performing in other community theater productions in Palatine, Crystal Lake and Woodstock, Kells wanted to present shows in her own neighborhood.

“Community theater opens the door for many people,” Kells said. “I've always been a good observer, and I noticed how different groups of people can be brought together in community theater. I wanted to provide opportunities for talented actors, and I didn't want to wait any longer to do it. It seemed like McHenry was hungry for its own theater company.”
